The movie adaptation is one of my favorite horror/sci-fi films of all time, so it was interesting to see what it was based on. I’m not sure if the film is based solely on the first book, or the entire trilogy. I feel like the visuals and horror aspect works far better as a film vs a book, or rather vs how the author wrote it. It’s difficult to rate this book since I’m not sure how much of my rating is influence by my love of the movie rather than my experience with the written story. However I did appreciate the differences between the two. There’s enough plot variation to still be slightly suspenseful and mysterious.
