The Girlfriend Hoax by Jannat Bhat

3.0

The Girlfriend Hoax follows the strong-willed Emma Duvall. After setting up an events company with her friend, Joseph, Emma is quite content with her life until Joseph comes to her with a proposition of “fake-dating” him in order to make his ex jealous and send her running back to his arms after she realises what she’s given up.

At first, Emma is unconvinced but eventually gives in. The only problem…Joseph's handsome, filthy rich elder brother, Jake. Emma has been secretly harbouring a monstrous attraction to Jake for years but never said anything as he always seemed to have a string of beautiful women on his arm.

As Jake wreaks silent havoc on Emma’s heart and body she finds herself forced to spend more and more time with him as they arrange his sister Jasmin’s destination wedding to an Indian Prince.

This book was actually rather lovely and very easy to read. While I did find the whole storyline a bit coincidental and wasn’t sold entirely on every character’s motivations there were some really cute parts and some nice emotional bits too.

Definitely, a cute little novella to read if you love the fake-dating trope, holiday romances, and a little bit of closed-door romance.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review
