An interesting first hand account of the October revolution. The overwhelming message is one of hope - of a people rising up to seize a future though that future remains unclear to them. Given the outcome of the revolution in the long run this is particularly bitter.

Important takeaway - the unionisation (creation of soviets) within the army and navy seems to have been one of the crucial steps in enabling the Bolsheviks to capture victory.
