This series was overall solid, but I felt the same way about these ones as I feel about another romantasy series. . . .the middle lags but MAN does the ending deliver! I could not put the last 75ish pages of this down, despite car sickness threatening me as we were driving to the beach. Both the first and second book really delivered that ending, so I end up all excited to go into the third book.

Starts of great, dynamic, interesting, and then bogs down in the middle. However, these ones aren't too terribly long, so it's not that bad. I'll likely read the third.
