Employing Patience by Saxon James

I've been waiting for Art and Joey's story since the first book in this series, and the wait was so worth it!! I absolutely loved this book. I mean, the entire series is utterly amazing and I've loved every single book so far, but this is my favorite of all.
Through the other stories, we've gotten to know Art, and also to a lesser degree Joey, so when I started reading this book I thought I had them figured out. I was so wrong! It turns out that they are, each in their own way, made up of layers and layers that hide an important piece of themselves.
Whereas we see Art who is not only loyal and supportive and helpful to his friends, he is also completely full of himself, confident in his sex appeal and his abilities to satisfy any man he chooses to hook up with, someone who doesn't want compromises of any kind and is happy with his life as it is, the reality is that all that hides a vulnerability that he finds difficult to admit, and despite being very close to his friends, few have really managed to penetrate that armor that at this point in his life, he already wears it like a second skin. He doesn't let anyone get too close, but he's also never met anyone who tempted him enough. Until Joey. He intrigues him. Joey is a puzzle that he can't finish putting together. A challenge that is increasingly difficult for him to resist.
Joey, despite the confident and self-assured image he projects, hides a man who for years has struggled to support his sisters, dropping out of high school and even working two jobs, while trying to understand himself and the growing attraction he feels towards Art and that doesn't go away like all the other times he felt attracted to another man, something he never felt he had to act on because said times were fleeting. And so, he acts like a man who only flirts with Art for fun and to make a profit at his job at the bar but always stressing how straight he is, but the reality is that inside all he wants is to get under Art'skin and being consumed by him. He manages to see beyond the image that Art projects, he sees the real Art and wants him for himself, and he tries by all means to get Art to give in to the attraction that it's always simmering between them.
And when the two finally give in... Well, let's just say it's explosive, leaving them both craving for more, though Art still trying to resist and Joey using every means to tempt him more and more.
The banter between the two of them is absolutely delicious, absolutely perfect. Not only is it fun to watch them flirt, but it lets you see exactly how strong the chemistry is between them, how well they fit together. And then, we have the banter between Art and the DMC men, so funny and so unapologetic Art!
This author never disappoints, ever. And I can't wait to see what she surprises us with in the next stories of hers!
I was given an advanced copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
