In ~20 pages, this book took me through childhood memories with my Nanny - my best friend and grandmother. From the southern vibes to the limited moments spent together, I saw so much of my Nanny and I in this book.
(Excuse me while I try not to cry.)
As for the poetry itself, it was very well written! It accomplished as much if not more than most books over 100 pages. The imagery was vivid without being too wordy, the poems read and felt like poems, and there was a narrative yet reflectiveness to it all. For such a short book, it was the right length to leave that sense of reflection on grief and growth that I think so many books nowadays refuse to acknowledge.
