Graveyard Shift by M.L. Rio
3.0
Good but feels half formed, less like a novella and more like the bones of a novel. All of the interstitial stuff between scenes is entirely stripped out but it takes a lot of the space the story actually needs with it, so that things feel disconnected and nothing is ever given time to breathe and develop. The ending especially is incredibly sudden and lacks meaning because we haven't had enough time for that meaning to develop.
