Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
Too long for something that wasn't interesting to me. If it was shorter I would've pushed through and maybe liked it
(I don't think so tho. The things I heard about it were weird and creepy, and I don't think I'd like to read about romanticized doub-con, or full on non-con, for 850 pages.)
The story itself didn't hook me. I like this type of stories, even the romance had potential, but I feel like it was wasted on stuff that just seem very fanfic-y. This was written in the 90s, btw.
This book just showed me that people saying how tiktok books are unhinged and ruined books are totally wrong. This kind of books gave always existed (this could easily be sorted into the dark romance genre if it was released now), the fans are just more open now. At least with dark romance you know what you're getting into and they are honest about being horn-dogs. This book is just that but trying to pretend it's not by using fancy words and a slightly-cool idea.
