The Mist by Stephen King
4.0
Damnit. I hate that I enjoyed this book so much. I normally stay clear of anything in the horror genre, but had to choose a title for a reading challenge and this one was recommended because it was short and not too terrifying. It was creepy, but not too much for my vivid imagination. I thought it was an interesting plot, although some of the characters annoyed me. But I suppose people act out when they are under stress or frightened, so maybe King accurately captured the human response. Something I enjoy about King’s writing is that he creates these terribly ordinary worlds that feel so real. I could picture these people and the creatures and felt like I was witness to it all. The ending of the book bothered me until I heard about the ending of the film. Then, I was happy to follow the narrator’s suggestion and come to my own assumption as to what happened.
