Obsidio by Amie Kaufman, Jay Kristoff

I am in awe of this series. I had no idea how Kaufman and Kristoff would be able to end this series in a satisfactory way, and they've exceeded my expectations.
I never expected this series to be this good. It had been recommended to me several times, and I assumed that it was good, but not this. Not this massive, sweeping, horrifying, poetic, violent, uplifting narrative that is filled with so much love for humanity and terror at its capabilities. These books are at turns incredibly dark, cheesily goofy, and highly romantic, and these authors managed to make these disparate moods feel whole. I've never felt so connected to characters whose heads you're rarely inside of first person, and I never thought I could love an Artificial Intelligence so much. I genuinely think that this is one of the best science fiction series I've ever read - maybe even one of the best series in any genre. Additionally, the audiobooks are incredible. They're like listening to radio plays, and their high quality speaks to the authors' dedication to having this story told right.
I will miss this series so much, and I think I will be returning to it over and over.
