4.0

I had big intentions of reading this book as soon as it came out but I never got around to it, now that the movie is due to come out soon I thought I better get stuck in.

I really enjoyed this book, there was enough character development with each of the characters that I felt I knew everyone’s story and with 5 missing women and 2 investigators at the helm, that couldn’t have been an easy feat for the author.

I’ve found that Harper is really good at creating a sense of urgency and tragedy while also describing the environments and emotions to a tee. You could feel that there was an undercurrent of pain running through everyone’s story.

Quite a different setting compared to ‘The Dry’ but equally as devastating. You may be wondering what I rated it a 4 then if I loved it, the end just didn’t hit for me, all of this amazing build up and I was let down. Luckily enough, the build up was so good that I would say it was still a great read.

I loved it and can’t wait to get onto the next!
