The Mourning Hours by Paula Treick DeBoard

3.0

*may contain spoilers* To be honest I found this The Mourning Hours to be kind of disappointing. The book starts off strong, but as it goes on it gets progressively weaker. In my opinion it doesn't spend enough time in the present. About three-fourths of this book is set in the main characters past, and then we are just brought back to the present. Once there, things start to happen quickly as if DeBoard was in a rush to finish the book. A lot of the things that happen then are fast, abrupt, and not exciting. Also, it feels like DeBoard took the easy way out on this one. I mean really like the guy who killed Stacy basically just comes out and admits it to the main character. Then, instead of at least capturing her so she can't rat him out, he lets her go! Why DeBoard? Why? For me this novel was a little too simple for my tastes. It did however manage to grab my attention and keep me interested, and for that I give it 3 stars.
