My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh
2.0
What piece of privileged, cruel, pointless garbage that was. The main character is unbearable in her endless listings of her "designer jeans", her fur coats, her this and that for which she paid loads and more. She is heartless, cruel and so privileged it hurts. Her year of rest and relaxation was a week of pain and anguish for me. I won't even comment on the cheap and trite ending, cause I have wasted enough time on this novel as it is.
One extra star for the only enjoyable moments in the novel: ones that deal with Dr Tuttle, the most incompetent psychiatrist one can imagine. If there's ever a spin off novel with her as a main character, I might just give it a go.
