Malice by John Gwynne

4.5

This was one of those books that I was saving for the perfect time because of how much I loved his other series. I got impatient though and I’m so glad I did.

For the first couple of hundred pages, the amount of characters and world building was blowing my mind a tad. I read online that there are 70+ characters introduced in the first hundred pages and it sure felt like it. This is the kind of fantasy that I’m after, the GoT vibe was strong, although I reckon this could put some people off.

Much like Shadow of the Gods, the battle scenes were written extraordinarily well and although they were detailed, they were easy to follow.

It was a slow burn, but had enough twists and turns to keep me thoroughly entertained. Overall, it was very obvious that this book is setting up a rich, engaging series, and I’m so excited to find out what is going to go down.
