Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice

5.0

I have read this book a good twenty times, and will probably pick it up again soon and read it again. The flawed characters are so enjoyable that I love living their narratives time and time again. Louis is a deeply forlorn character, but his delivery of his story is so poignant it is hard not to sit down and read the entire novel from cover to cover. This is where I originally fell in love with Lestat, with vampires, with the Vampire Chronicles, with gothic literature, with supernatural literature, with Anne Rice (even though our relationship has clearly had ups and downs).

I adore the descriptions that bring these historical environments to life. But again, I think the plight of the characters is what brings everything together. Louis the brooder, Lestat the loose cannon, and Claudia the whiny brat child that I've never really liked but feel connected to nonetheless.

Absolutely love this novel!
