Golden Hour of You and Me by K. Jamila
5.0

“Her laughter comes out in spurts, like she’s having trouble breathing, but it’s a beautiful laugh, and instantly, I know I’d like to hear it again and again and again.”
Sheyanne Shaw is back home for the first time in almost 5 years, and coming back isn’t easy. Sheyanne practically have non-existing relationship with both her father and her brother, and it isn’t easier when two ex-best friend and the chief isn’t happy to see her either. With her dad’s dwindling health he has hired Liam so help with the finances. Sheyanne tries to keep him at a distance, but that is harder than she though.
Liam Landon is spending the next 5 months in Flagstaff, Arizona helping Mr. Shaw put his finances together before the need for assisted living happens, what he doesn’t expect is to meet his daughter Sheyanne. He quickly realizes that Sheyanne attitude has more to do with keeping herself guarded and Liam wants to brake her walls.
As someone who has been a fan of K. Jamila for a long time, this book is everything to me. The anxiety and depression rep is amazing. Lina and Jackson will always have a special place in my heart (because it’s the first book, and I relate to Lina sooo much), but I really loved how Liam worked with Sheyanne on communication and how he didn’t push, he let her open up about what she wanted on her own time. Liam accepted that while he wanted to help her and he didn’t like when she pushed him away, he understood that it was something she needed to do for not just herself, but for the both of them.
I will be buying and reading all of future K. Jamila books, and I will almost guarantee they will all be 5 stars, and no one can convince me otherwise.
