I actually like this a lot, so almost gave 4 stars. But I didn't like the jumping back and forth in time between chapters... it didn't seem necessary to the novel, and for me just made it harder to read ("Who is this? Is this their son? Oh no, wait, it's their grandson..."). The ending was... well, it just sort of seemed to peter out.
