I absolutely loved this book. This is my first book ever by Harlow James and immediately after reading this book, I went and purchased the first book because I hadn’t read it. This book was so angsty and emotional it immediately tied my insides into knots and I was hooked. This is my favorite trope. I love when the man is desperately in love, pining for his woman. Oh it makes my heart sing. Penn is just an ordinary guy. He is the town’s handyman. He fixes, builds and restores everything. However, as everyone around him is opening their own business he is remaining stagnant. He has stepped in to help Astrid after the death of her husband (his best friend), playing games with her children, coaching soccer and replenishing kisses from daddy. He is fully ingrained in her life, helping her renovate her bakery, but when she is asked out on a date in front of him and she decides to go on the date, Penn knows things must change. Penn decides to start his own business something he had been hesitant to do for so long. This was an amazing read with great moments of each of them thinking about and admiring the other and disclosing their desire to the reader. I love angst and this book is full of it and I relished every moment of it. I intended to read the remaining three books in this series I don’t expect them to be as angsty but I’m certainly hoping they are.
