Stoner by John Williams
2.5
This book was made by the ending, otherwise, despite its beautiful prose and the love for literature Stoner expresses, I found it difficult to feel pathos for the man; and perhaps that was the point. The tragedy of the everyman is that it doesn’t matter, like Lomax and Stoner’s petty feud.
I can accept my issue with this novel was personal, and I would still recommend it to anyone interested in the campus novel & reading about teaching.
