I hoped to like this a bit more than I did, but I mostly just found this to be slow and somewhat boring. The writing didn’t do much for me and the structure often didn’t make sense. Random flashbacks within chapters (or a whole chapter), and then more flashbacks with the year marked at the beginning, and then random hotel chapters, even though the hotel “scene” itself was so brief as to be almost skimmed over. I did enjoy the threads of mother-daughter relationships (though I think this could have been further explored, maybe through her mother’s POV). I also thought the exploration of OCD was well done and showed the complexity and diversity of experience with it, though I’d obviously defer to readers with OCD on how well done it was. The twist kind of felt weird and not quite right, maybe overly neat and the motivation didn’t make a ton of sense to me. I thought this was fine, but I don’t think it will stay with me and can’t say I’d recommend it.
