this book was very different from what i was expecting but i loved it!! this is one of those books where from the first 50 pages i just had a feeling it was going to be 5 stars, and i was right :)) the first thing i loved about this book was the plot because it was just so gripping, i never wanted to stop reading it and the way it was written just kept me hooked from beginning to end. i loved the relationships developed between all the characters, especially izzy and mia. i also loved the structure of it because that's what made the book unique, since it started with the fire but you don't really know who did it, and then the rest of the book is about everything leading up to that fire. it was a SLOW BURN, literally and figuratively!! the way the everything slowly unfolded one by one was so precisely crafted, and i thought the conversations that it brought up about race and motherhood were really interesting. gonna start watching the show now!!
