Little Stranger by Leigh Rivers
4.0
I do think that this may be the darkest romance I have ever read and it absolutely was a fun time.
Malachi was terrifying. He was ultra possessive and very messed up because of his traumas and mental issues. However, he still completely crossed Olivia's boundaries and did things to her that she either didn't or couldn't consent to. She ultimately enjoyed everything, so that's also pretty bad morals and ethics on her part, but everything that happened from the end of part one onwards was entirely Malachi's doing.
There were a lot of sex scenes in this book and some felt so repetitive. In fact, a lot of the book was repetitive, especially in Olivia's perspective. She spent a lot of this book questioning her morals, as she should, but it did also leave me feeling like, I needed to change the record to something that didn't have so much shame. I wanted her to come to a certain conclusion far faster because I couldn't stand how "will she won't she?" She she became in regards to Malachi. Like 80% in, please just make a decision and stick to it.
I also didn't enjoy how easy it was for one of the characters to change their mind about something, especially given everything that character went through. The ending was far too happy for the nature of the plot.
Still was a fun read though.
