D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding by Chencia C. Higgins

funny hopeful lighthearted

4.0

Such a perfect Valentine’s Day read. Lighthearted and sweet and funny. I listened to the audiobook of this and I think the narrator (who was fantastic), in tandem with the writing, made these characters feel so real!! It felt like just hanging out with friends (and a couple that is sickeningly adorable.)

I do wish D’Vaughn and Kris had more time together and to get to know each other. Even though they only had the six weeks, I wish they at least got more time together that wasn’t in front of the camera.
It seems pretty wild to get married after only knowing each other for six weeks, but I will say it didn’t bother me as much as it normally would because they were just so good together. I also thought the reality show reveal would lead to a big conflict with their families and loved ones but nobody cared at all, and I don’t know if that was believable.

Of course there were bound to be wires crossed considering the reality show, but it was refreshing to see a couple who actually communicates. Wild concept, I know. I think D’Vaughn was a bit insecure too which could lead to a little miscommunication but I loved how Kris basically refused to let them misunderstand each other. Anyway, really cute and now I’m even more excited for Higgins’s upcoming book.
