The Hand on the Wall by Maureen Johnson
5.0
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!! I can’t sleep, I can’t think, I can’t function as a human being, all thanks to this book.
And I am honestly giddy about it.
I did not think this series could get any better. I thought that Maureen Johnson was all out of tricks and twists. How could this conclusion possibly live up to the sky-high expectations set by its precedents?
I was so wrong.
This was without a doubt my favorite in the trilogy and was the perfect conclusion to an insane and incredible mystery. Not a second or page was wasted, and not a single opportunity was missed.
There is something so rich and raw about this series that sets it apart from other mystery stories. It feels so disturbingly real, like this could actually happen, like these crazy geniuses and these cold-blooded murderers could actually exist. Because they aren’t just murderers or geniuses. They’re people. People who made good and bad decisions and have real feelings. Any of them could easily be me or someone I know. Maybe someone I don’t. As Call Me Charles once assigned Stevie, it put a face on crime. And it was almost too convincing.
I was hooked from the very first page until the last and can’t wait to read it all over again. It is so well-developed, so perfectly planned, and wonderfully written.
Do not miss out on this truly devious adventure. (I’m sorry you had to read that. I couldn’t resist.
