I was unimpressed with this short chapter book, which was a bummer because it’s such a cute title with so many books in the series. It’s possible that part of the issue was that I started in the middle and may have been missing some context; however, I found the whole book too repetitive and overly moralistic. I don’t think I would even recommend this to my students. The story was disjointed, and I didn’t feel that the magic wind concept was well-explained or added anything substantial to the story.
There were some cute moments with Katie’s developing friendships, which is a huge part of the upper elementary school experience as students are beginning to redetermine their identity and seeing their friendships shift.
