I couldn’t help but love this read. It’s a great stand-alone cozy sci-fi that I would highly recommend. If you’re a fan of Becky Chambers or Ann Leckie, this will be right up your alley.
I didn’t really know what this was when I started it. I think that’s due to the bargain shelf cover. It should have been a mellow farm scene with a little old lady picking tomatoes, or perhaps she’s in her homey kitchen, kneading dough and baking bread. I kept getting a Ghibli vibe while picturing this story. I looked up the original cover. It is a little on the strange side, but at least it does a better job of conveying some of the story.
