Kathleen Glasgow is forever one of my favorite authors because she's one of the few authors in my opinion who really capture the teenage girl experience. I love how her books talk about hard topics that people shy away from and make the reader confront them and really understand what the character is going through. Her books make me cry every time but her writing heals something inside of me along the way. Her writing helps remind me that I'm strong enough to make it through whatever I might be going through.

Now enough about her books as a whole, let's talk about The Glass Girl. Reading about Bella's relationship with her family and her alcoholism was tough but so worth it in order to see her growth. We see her problems right from the start and so many times I wanted to reach through the pages and tell Bella to stop and then give her a big hug. I really liked how Glasgow wrote out Bella's thought process surrounding her addiction throughout the novel. Bella's characterization and improvement throughout the book was so well done I really didn't want to say goodbye to her character. Although the book definitely was left off at the correct place and a second novel probably wouldn't work I couldn't help but wonder how the rest of Bella's life turned out even if it's better a bit open ended. As always I will continue to rave about how good of an author Kathleen Glasgow is and this book was no exception from that praise.
