The Djinn Waits a Hundred Years by Shubnum Khan
5.0
I had no idea what to expect going into this, but I am just so overwhelmed by this book!!! This is a story that holds multitudes.
A father and daughter, Sana, move into a huge house by the sea that is broken up into apartments. The house itself is a mansion that's falling apart. It seems ugly at first. It's multiple different architectural styles and its crumbling state. But this author breathed life into the bones of this house, taking me across time to learn the beautiful beginning and back to the intense end of this tale.
The multiple characters in this story are so well described, especially emotionally, that I felt such a close attachment. I mean, truly, this is a gorgeous story of heartbreak, jealousy, grief... but more than any of that, it is a story of love. Not fast love, nothing so easy. But the kind of love that forms through understanding and time.
This really swept me away, and I highly recommend it!
