This book reminds me of an early 2000s fantasy movie in the best possible way. I love the pacing and how everything just fits really well. The characters are some of the best written and really likable. Even the villains are likable enough because you start to sit and think well, what are their true motivations to the reason they are the way they are?
The twist and runs of this book are actually really fun to witness and try to piece together. This book was mostly action and character driven. I loved all the fighting scenes and it by far made the book as great as it is

Some people may say that this is not Sanderson’s best work but I totally disagree. It is very lighthearted and the plot puts you in the position of the characters, it is like a 3-D experience in book form if that makes sense?
One thing Brandon Sanderson can do is create a freaking magic system that has never been heard of. Every time he creates a new one I am immersed by it. The use of color as a grounds of magic was a great decision especially because I’ve never heard of it used before.

“You locked me in a closet, he reminded. You should apologize." “I’m not going to apologize by killing someone.” "Just throw me in there," Nightblood said. "If he’s evil, he’ll kill himself.”

I know Nightblood is a talking sword but good God he was hilarious! I wish we got more scenes with his banter. I loved his “affection” towards Vivenna. I am totally a Vivenna and Vasher shipper! They would make the perfect couple and I hope when Sanderson writes the next book he plays with their connection a little more.

“I suspect that the mountains are beautiful, as you have said. However, I believe the most beautiful thing in them has already come down to me.”

I know he’s not a big “romance” writer but the small bits and pieces of romance from this were really sweet especially when they were between Susebron and Siri! They are my babies and I will defend them to the end. If they have no fans that means I am dead! I knew by the way Susebron was being described early on that his actual personality would not be a reflection on who he actually was just how it was when it came down to Vasher. I mean Vasher isn’t a saint or anything and he honestly gives off that Damon Salvatore character drive (a “villain” who in the end wins your heart).
My last part of this review goes to Lightsong…I love Lightsong. Lightsong can do no wrong. If I were run over by a car and I noticed that Lightsong was the person driving said car I would apologize to him. He is just such a great side character — no to me he’s more of a main character because I loved being a part of his POVS.
It’s safe to say that this book deserves more hype in my opinion. I did go into this scared because not many people talk about this book but it is AMAZING and I think more people who want to read within the Cosmere universe should pick this up at some point.
