Big meh on this one. It was really well-written with clear character voice and great POV epiphanies from both MCs. The two leads were feisty and well-matched. And the premise of a severed mate bond forcing the two to come together without it was really interesting.
But man I just cannot get behind these hardcore pack dynamics. It’s, like, the one thing in supernatural romance where I can’t suspend my disbelief. It just feels so silly to me and it’s impossible to take it seriously. That’s a me thing, not a criticism of the book. I’m glad I gave this a shot since Cate has been on my TBR for ages, but I think I’m good on wolf pack books.
Spice level was not nearly as high as I thought it would be though - just a handful of brief sexy scenes to support the slow burn nature of this romance.
Overall, this book is great if you’re into this kind of thing. I’m just not, I guess.
