In Too Deep by Lee Child, Andrew Child
5.0
This is the 29th book in the Jack Reacher series, and as always, they pretty much work as standalones. Will you get slightly more if you read them in order, absolutely, but you do not have to, and I have not. I really enjoyed this story, it felt slightly more like a puzzle than the others that I have read. I enjoyed how it wasn’t overly apparently that this one was written by two authors, though at times I did wonder, and it gave me pause (this might be ironed out in final editing though). However, the story was nicely crafted and well done. I found the writing to be wonderfully suspenseful and full of action. It is obvious that this is a series that appeals to those who enjoy the shock and awe, and I am one of them and this book had plenty. At times there is a lot going on and I had to stay very focused in order to keep things straight, but my effort paid off because I was left with a satisfactory conclusion. The pacing is quick and I finished this book over the course of a Sunday afternoon.
I toggled back and forth between a PRHAudio ALC and an e-arc and enjoyed both. I highly recommend this one to those who want a high-octane thriller.
Don’t be afraid or shy because this is a long-standing series, jump right in and join the fun.
Thank you to @berkleypub and @netgalley for this e-arc all thoughts are my own.
