I’ve been a long time Poe fan and since my reading challenge group is doing a Poe theme this month this was the perfect opportunity for me to read this book. I flew through The Initial Insult in less than a day and I’m about to pick up the second book because I need to know what happens next. If someone isn’t familiar with Poes stories and poems I could see this being a little confusing for them but I absolutely loved that this was like a mishmash of a bunch of his works put together in a modern retelling. I also loved the characters and can’t really find anything bad to say about any of them other than Tress’ grandpa but he’s not really a starring role so it was easy to overlook my dislike for him. I’m cutting this short because I’m moving on to book 2 now and I can’t wait.
