I cried like a river that’s for sure. I also need to doodle myself a note saying “I talk like a river” now. The author’s end note on “How I Speak” really resonated with me. Stuttering is seen as unnatural to others, and I am so hyper aware of this oddity I bring with my spoken words, that this awareness makes me trip over my words even more. Sadly most people in my life chose to point out how “weird/wrong/strange/foreign” I sound. I wish someone could’ve told me I talk like a river too. Will be re-reading this for the rest of my life.
