Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy: A Modern Graphic Retelling of Little Women by Rey Terciero
3.0
Today I marched with my sisters, both figuratively and literally. And while the world isn't where it should be, it's on its way...
i wouldn't have picked this up if it weren't for my school librarian - i'm a goodreads grandma so i have no idea how to insert a picture, but she left me a note along with this book saying she thought i'd enjoy it. (it's a known fact that little women is one of my favorite classics.) i love librarians.
anyway, i definitely did enjoy it. it was sweet and familiar and definitely not my type, but i think i need a wholesome book like this for a break. it was similar to the original for the most part, and the representation was also amazing. jo was always a kindred spirit for me, and seeing her in the 21st-century just made me feel more connected to her.
i usually don't enjoy graphic novels, though. the same goes for retellings; i never connect with them the way i do with the original.
again, though, a really sweet book. have i mentioned how much i love librarians? cause i really do.
