The Passion by Karen Deen
4.0
Flynn and Felisha in the business world are considered competitors, but they both respect the other and keep things cordial. All the men of Darby Hotels are respectful..something Felisha isn’t accustomed to by a lot of men, especially her father. But her father is a whole another story..scum! So one night, Felisha sits at a bar and there is something about the cologne, it draws her in. When she looks to see who the man is, it’s none other than Flynn Taylor, a definite off limits man. But he joins her and after they banter back and forth, end up sharing the night together. Not spoken, but each of them thinking that there is something different about the other. As special as that night started, it has now become a nightmare, as they are being blackmailed, and the video gets leaked. Both of them want to handle it in their own way but decide they should work together to find out who’s behind the tape.
This is just the beginning..Felisha has a difficult time trusting men but she finds herself turning to Flynn when she needs help. Flynn meanwhile wants to give a relationship a try with her but she keeps shutting down the idea. But Flynn remains supportive of her and protective of her throughout. Felisha is a strong, independent woman with a high powered job and title and the world sees this woman..Flynn however gets to see the softer, vulnerable Felisha and encourages both, but loves when she seeks him out.
Overall, really good story. We have read Nic and Rem’s books and they are still present throughout this book, which I love. Also, Flynn’s brother Forrest, which is probably the next book, is there right by his brother through the good and bad. All of them willing to lend a hand and stand by Flynn but also there to keep him grounded and in check. Great world building here. Felisha is so strong throughout..except when it comes to her father. Ugh! No one should put up with that. She comes around but it takes awhile. Also, although I do like the story, every bit of it was pretty predictable. Everything that happened, I knew was coming. Maybe it won’t be that way for everyone. Definitely worth a read though. If you are really motived, start at the beginning, The Craving and The Desire. Truly look forward to Forrest’s book!
