It has been a hot minute since I read this book (coming up to 5 years) so it felt like reading it for the first time again

This still stands as a good recommendation for anyone wanting to get into fantasy and even after reading many fantasy books, it was still such a great, dark and magical time as I remember it being

I love Brando Sandos writing, he manages to make any fantasy setting accessible with the gradual world building and a magic system that I will forever think is cool. You’re not meant to know everything straight away, but flow with the story and it all starts to make sense

Vin is a great main character, I feel like her character was written well with her past creeping through but still has a determined and a softer side to her. The side characters are also worth a mention as they add a lot to the story

Hopefully I’ll be able to get round to a reread of The Well of Ascension!l but it seems like September is having more new releases than any month of this year!
