It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover
5.0
A book written for her fans, this book was everything I wanted it to be. I know there is a lot of controversy around it, but it’s exactly what CoHo set out to do: she gave Lily and Atlas a chance to reconnect, readers a chance to have more of their story, and also the ability to not suffer from more trauma. That said, there is still some painful backstory to work through – things that are new to readers even if you read the first book.
Personally, I really enjoyed reading this. It might not be CoHo’s best work, but she also had never planned to write this sequel and did it to give Lily and Atlas the love fans thought they deserved, and with that in mind, it was perfect. I loved the new storyline that helps bring them together, and I loved the impact of the title with this one, since I originally thought it was based on Lily and Atlas starting their relationship finally – but it’s not that at all.
I do highly recommend reading this one if you enjoyed It Ends With Us for the story and not just certain parts of it. I loved the characters and wanted a chance to see them after their first moments of reconnection, and CoHo gave me this and I’m forever grateful.
