I read the German translation by Dagmar Ploetz.
High brow literature, but what a drag to read. Male gaze deluxe.
The translation was fabulous, but I didn’t like this book.
It is part of the story, but all people with the same names. I couldn’t remember anybody. And mainly, I couldn’t connect with the characters on an emotional level.
Everybody was just miserable.
Great writing for sure, but I won’t read anything else by GGM.
How everything wrapped up in the end, was quite satisfying.
