This book was totally not what I was expecting, and it definitely ended way more abruptly than I saw coming. First of all, I loved Simon and Quin together. I love the way Quin was obsessed with Simon, even though maybe that was a little...unhinged at first, it still felt like just good, sweet affection. As for the twins, I'm not sure there's a way to redeem them in my mind after reading this book. They were so, so awful to Simon. Especially Declan. Every ugly comment they made about Quin, knowing it was teasing Simon apart, was just so hard to read. Somewhere along the way in their lives, their love for Simon twisted into something ugly and possessive while his love for them stayed pure and trusting, and watching them break him down slowly while Quin tried to put the pieces back together was just awful. I'm going to keep reading this series because I'm hoping to get a happy ending and I need to read sweet sweet Vulcan's story, but I'm not feeling hopeful about the next book being about one of the twins.
