This book is not a walk in the park, to say the least. One event follows another without giving us a second to breathe or get bored. As someone who never takes the time to read thrillers—I need my dose of romance in every book I read to be honest—I am glad I read Breaking You by Taylor Wilson-West, which combines romance, thriller and so much more.
It’s also been a while since I’ve read a bully romance, as I’m increasingly enjoying reading books with characters who are at least in their late twenties, but with this book I didn’t mind that the characters were barely adults. Even though they were far from being fully mature—which is normal for their age—they were mature enough that it did not take me out of the reading.
I loved Cin. She’s an incredible young woman. She’s sharp, she’s feisty and she doesn’t let things get to her. She’s perfectly capable of looking after herself without being so obtuse that she doesn’t accept help when she needs it. Plus, I can’t help but love her for taming Talon. If it hadn’t been for the changes he made after realising he’d been an idiot with Cin, I think I’d have spent the whole book berating him, but I’m weak and I love a good redemption arc, so Talon got back into my good graces at the same time as he got into Cin’s.
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series, Choosing You.
