Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon

5.0

I felt incredibly anxious the entire time reading it, but Sorrowland is a remarkable piece of fiction about survival, love, and the brutality of state violence experienced by Black Americans.

edit: I have to add onto this review that since reading this four months ago, I have regularly thought about the gorgeous Sapphic relationship towards the end of Vern’s story - which I believe is maybe the best example of romantic love I have ever read.
