My Happy Marriage, Volume 1 by Akumi Agitogi, Rito Kohsaka
4.0
Miyo is the eldest daughter in the house of Saimori, a high status, weathly and prosperous family who possess the gift. Miyo does not have the gift, and became a lowly servant girl once her Mother died, and her Father remarried his former lover. One day, Miro is told that she will be married to Kiyoka Kuduo, a heartless man who possesses the gift of spirit sight to destroy the Groteseque (unearthy malicious creatures who can take human form). Whereas Miros' next door neighbour and crush Kouji Tatshushi marries her evil step sister Kaya.
Miyo travels to the Kuduo house, and is taken aback by the humble abode and friendly housekeeper Yurie, who reassures Miyo that the nasty rumours were all false. Through tender encounters Kiyoka builds Miyo's confidence up.
I really enjoyed delving into Japanese traditions and it's superstitions. There were also wonderful descriptions of the architecture, social standing and appearances.
This is part one of five books, a debut by Akumi Agitogi. There is a manga version, illustrated by Rito Kousaka.
