When I saw a tiktok recommending this KU book, I was hesitant. Tiktok doesn’t always have the best book recommendations. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this book! While somewhat of a ~smutty~ book, I really appreciated the healthy relationship between the two characters was. The FMC has unresolved issues from a SA in her past. In a lot of books like these the FMC gets over it really quickly and usually mainly due to the help of the MMC. Instead, through a lot of work in therapy, and continuous support from the MMC, she overcomes. The books has a lot of tropes that flip what I feel like are consistent misogynistic tropes that we see in a lot of books (ex: she always comes first, she always orgasms, etc). As a result it felt much more realistic and relatable as a reader. I think my biggest complaint is that I wish there was more. More time dedicated to the buildup, such as more of their day-to-day lives, more time spent dedicated to their relationship, and more of a conclusion. I really liked the focus on F1; it was my first book in that genre and it was such a nice break from all of the hockey books I’ve been seeing on booktok and KU lately!
