This book had potential, but it honestly went downhill fast.
Neither Deen or Kiran were very likeable characters to me. I did like Kiran in the beginning, but everything she did felt too far. A lot of the issues in the beginning of the novel were somewhat forgotten after the whole Deen fire thing came up, although I did like when they were discussing immigrant parent pressures. I liked Amira and Faisal’s relationship (even though I do think they were rushing it), but I didn’t see any chemistry between Kiran and Deen. I felt like all the relationship stuff of this book was just kind of random, and I just didn’t feel like it worked. I think I would have liked them more if there was a bit more build up to their relationship, or their was some sort of conclusion to their story. Overall, the book wasn’t terrible. I had high hopes for this book, and it unfortunately didn’t meet them.
