The Lost Apothecary is a phenomenal debut from Sarah Penner that kept me completely enthralled.  I could not put this book down, so I stayed up past my bedtime each night to keep reading!  I was so excited to read this when I saw the cover, it’s just so gorgeous!  Normally, this wouldn’t be my kind of genre to read, but I’m very glad that I did.  This is a dual timeline story that is so gripping and immersive.  The author’s words are so beautiful and detailed.  I loved Caroline’s thrilling adventure to solve the mystery she stumbled upon.  I felt like I was there, searching with her.  So many chapters ended on a cliffhanger or an intense moment, and each chapter alternated timelines, that I just HAD to keep reading.  The ending shocked me for both timelines, and I loved it so much!  I immediately fell in love with all the characters, except Caroline’s husband.  He was the worst.  The book had a very beautiful theme to it; Follow your dreams, never settle, and don’t lose yourself.  I’m only sad that it’s over.

I highly recommend this read.
