You Are My Sunshine: A Story of Love, Promises, and a Really Long Bike Ride by Sean Dietrich
3.0
A funny, light and entertaining story about the author's experience going on a bike ride with his wife, who had previously been diagnosed with cancer, along the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) and Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. Balancing the humor were moments of self-discovery and reflection about life. I appreciate that Dietrich's inclusion of his faith and religion throughout was not overly sappy or preachy. After rereading A Walk in the Woods, I noticed many similarities including the historical tidbits and the sardonic humor. Dietrich is not as strong of a writer as Bill Bryson, however, and some of the descriptions were a little lacking, but it was a pleasant and quick read.
