Thank you to Forever for my gifted copy for review!
Love & Other Disasters is author Anita Kelly's debut novel and it was the perfect mix of substance and spice.
Dahlia Woodson and London Parker are competitors on the cooking show, Chef's Special.
To add to the already high stress of competition, Dahlia is queer and recently divorced, and London has come out as non-binary on national television. The potential for judgement from family, fellow competitors and the public is real.
The attraction between London and Dahlia is rather immediate, yet pursued with the caution of those whose hearts have been hurt. And may get sent home from the show.
The journey through discovery and emotional honesty makes for a heart-tugging read, amidst humour and relevance. The characters learn, we learn.
London uses they/them pronouns, which actually takes very little to get used to as a reader.
London and Dahlia's relationship is obviously the highlight here, but the cooking show backdrop is pure bonus for this foodie.
The hype for this one is with reason - recommended!
 For release on Jan. 18.
