When I read this for the first time back in 2021 I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the first novel. I thought it was too drawn out and repetitive. I was afraid it would put me in a reading slump when I decided to reread this series but I was pleasantly surprised that this time around I enjoyed it much more. I still think some parts are a little repetitive but otherwise I found this book so captivating. A lot of books don't have great reread value but I'd say this is one that you can only really grow to appreciate with time (and after reading the third book and realizing how well this book played into the ending).
