The Sun and the Star by Rick Riordan, Mark Oshiro

4.5

recommend: absolutely! (If you have read Apollo’s series and Heroes of Olympus)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶️(no, kisses)

I loved reading a book from Nico and Will’s perspective—something I’ve been craving for a long time. Their teasing nature with each other was endearing, and I appreciated how Rick and Mark explored their differences in views and personalities. Nico and Will are so different, yet they complement each other. I especially liked that they not only went on a quest together but also worked on their relationship, with Nico becoming more accepting of himself in the process.

There’s a noticeable difference in the writing style, which feels more mature, likely due to Mark. I really like it—it’s different but in a way that enhances the story without straying too far from what I love about the series.

I also loved seeing Hades as a father. The irony that Hades seems to be the only god who truly cares for his child isn’t lost on anyone. And let’s face it, we’re all a little bit like Mr. D—gossips at heart!

OBS! I found a grammar misspelling, hahah. More funny than anything. Nico accidentally say Bianca is his mother instead of Maria, hahah. To avoid spoilers I should have read Apollo’s books first. But I was spoiled the one big thing (if you know, you know) so I figured I could read this first anyway.
