Make the Season Bright by Ashley Herring Blake
4.0
Second chance romance is a hard one for me because I get to a point and I’m done, done. But this story showed how much the characters grew over the years before getting back together, and it was nice. I think that is the only way a second chance romance will work, you have to put in work, and come out a better person, and that is exactly what these characters did. I loved getting to know both Brighton and Charlotte. They weren’t perfect characters, but they worked well together. The chemistry between them was fantastic and I felt it through the pages. The dual POV was nice and one of my favorite ways to engage in a story. This book is heavier than I expected in a few regards. I went into it expecting a light and fluffy Christmas romcom, and while it was a Christmas romcom it dealt with some heavy topics. I think the author did a nice job of taking them out and making them palatable for a Christmas themed romcom which I enjoyed. I loved the small town setting, it felt so cozy and full of cheer which was perfect for the season. The narration on the audiobook was great and I feel that the narrator really helped bring the characters to life in a meaningful way.
